What’s new in 0.2.0

What it does

Built for people with more than one plan.

You pay for two or three AI coding subscriptions so you never sit out a reset. OpenSwap makes them work like one.

  1. Switch accounts in one click.

Click an account in the menu bar and Claude Code moves to it. No signing out, no browser, no pasting tokens. From a terminal, openswap switch rotates to the next account, or jumps to one by number, email, or alias.

    • Menu bar
    • openswap switch 2
    • Aliases
  2. See every account at once.

Usage bars for the 5-hour and 7-day windows of every saved account, side by side, so you know which one has room before you pick it. In the menu bar and in a desktop widget.

    • Menu bar
    • Desktop widget
    • openswap list
  3. Or let it rotate for you.

Auto-switch moves Claude Code to an account with room once the current one passes 90% of a window, then waits five minutes before it moves you again.

    • Auto-switch
    • 90% by default
    • openswap auto
  4. Fall back to your API credit.

When every subscription hits its limit, OpenSwap can keep Claude Code going on a Claude API key you link to an account, billed to that key’s API credit. Once a subscription has room again, it switches back.

    • Last resort only
    • Switches back on its own
    • openswap add-token --for
  5. Claude Code and Codex.

Claude Code and Codex CLI accounts each get their own tab, usage bars, and rotation. Switching the ChatGPT desktop app is experimental and off by default.

    • Claude Code
    • Codex CLI
    • ChatGPT, experimental
  6. Remote tasks, if you want them.

Pair your Mac with OpenTag and start Claude Code or Codex sessions on it from Slack, in folders you approve. Off until you pair the Mac and pass a live check on it.

    • Off by default
    • Folders you approve
    • A worktree per task

Why it’s free

It runs on your Mac.There’s nothing for us to bill.

OpenSoft products charge one flat price for hosting them. OpenSwap has nothing to host. The app, your saved logins, and your settings stay on your machine, so there is no paid plan.

A few practical questions

Before you install.

Does it cost anything?

No. There is no paid plan and no trial. Your Claude and ChatGPT subscriptions are billed by Anthropic and OpenAI as they are today.

Does it run on Windows or Linux?

No. OpenSwap is a Mac app (macOS 14 or later). We do not ship Windows or Linux builds.

Where are my logins stored?

In your Mac’s Keychain. Uninstalling keeps them unless you also choose to delete saved accounts, settings, and logs.

How do I update it?

With Homebrew, run brew upgrade --cask openswap. If you installed the DMG, download the new one from the releases page.

How do I uninstall it?

In the menu bar, choose More, then Uninstall OpenSwap. It removes its login item, puts back your own Claude Code status line if it changed it, and moves the app to the Trash.
